These little apple turnovers have a soft, buttery dough and a simple cinnamon apple filling. Keep them pale if that’s how your family likes them, or bake them a little longer for a golden finish.
Ingredients
- For the dough: 375 g flour, 250 g butter, 1 tablespoon yoghurt, 1 teaspoon baking powder, 1 teaspoon vanilla sugar and 5 tablespoons powdered sugar
- For the filling: 3 apples, peeled, cored and chopped; 5 tablespoons sugar; 1–2 teaspoons cinnamon
Method
- Put the chopped apples and sugar in a pan. Bring to a boil, stirring, then cover and cook over low heat for 10 minutes.
- Remove from the heat and stir in the cinnamon. Let the filling cool.
- Mix the dough ingredients until soft but not sticky.
- Take small portions of dough and flatten each in your palm. Add some apple filling, then close and seal the pastry.
- Bake at 180 °C for about 15–20 minutes, until lightly golden. Dust with powdered sugar.
